Library Program: Cultivating Lifelong Learning Habits

At EMASI, the library is considered the “heart of the school”, a space where students are inspired to love learning, develop essential academic skills, and nurture the qualities of global citizens.

Through the harmonious combination of a well-structured program, rich resources, diverse activities, and an environment that fosters exploration, the EMASI Library has become a dynamic learning hub. It plays a vital role in building sustainable reading habits and empowering students to take ownership of their learning.

The EMASI Library Program: A Core Component of the Curriculum

The EMASI Library Program is an integral part of the academic curriculum, its curriculum is designed to align with the EMASI Curriculum. It includes weekly scheduled classes and a clearly defined learning pathway across all grade levels.

In Lower Elementary, library sessions spark joy and curiosity. Bilingual read-alouds connect with the EMASI English Curriculum while nurturing core values. In Upper Elementary, students develop independent reading habits, explore various genres, and begin building information literacy through hybrid resources.

In Lower Secondary, the program promotes diverse reading formats, strengthens digital literacy, and introduces research skills with a focus on academic integrity. In Upper Secondary, students explore digital sources, engage with scholarly papers, and apply academic ethics in using and citing information responsibly.

Beyond reading and academic development, the library is a vibrant space for thematic book exhibitions. It also hosts surprise storytelling sessions, reading clubs, reading projects, reading buddy activities, seasonal reading challenges, student-led exhibitions, and guest speaker author visits.

At EMASI, reading promotion is a shared journey—led by the library, embraced by teachers and students, and encouraged to get parents’ support. Together, we nurture reading habits by guiding students toward meaningful books, connecting them with stories they love, and encouraging them to share what they read with others. Each EMASI library, uniquely designed across an expansive 1,000-square-meter space, is thoughtfully envisioned as a vibrant Learning Commons at the heart of the school community. Functional zones support a wide range of learning experiences—from quiet individual study to group collaboration and whole-class reading, whether for academic exploration or the simple joy of reading. Age-appropriate areas ensure that furniture and shelving are both inviting and accessible, creating a warm, inclusive environment for students of all grade levels.

Students have access to thousands of print and digital resources, thoughtfully curated to reflect diverse genres and interests. These collections are aligned with the EMASI Curriculum and designed to support both academic learning and personal reading choices, empowering students to grow as curious, confident, and independent readers.
